Christmas mail for the elderly
For the fifth year in a row, we invite people across Lithuania to write Christmas letters, greetings, and wishes to brighten the holidays for lonely elderly people.
During the holiday season, when Christmas trees light up the cities, not everyone has someone to share the anticipation of the holidays with. Thus, since 2021, we have been inviting people all over Lithuania to join the initiative “Christmas mail for the elderly” and write a letter or postcard to a lonely elderly person.
Letters collected in special mailboxes are sent to different parts of Lithuania to bring joy to elderly people, for whom the holiday season is often quiet.
This initiative revives a simple yet deeply human tradition – handwritten letters – and encourages people to build connections and share warmth with strangers. After all, just a sentence or two can be the greatest gift: a sign of care and a reminder that no one is forgotten. We are delighted to see more and more schools, companies, and communities joining the initiative. Each letter is a small ray of light that we can share with those who need it most.
