Vare invited to contribute to the creation of a festive miracle for seniors, showing attention that they are not alone, says Rugilė Bitautaitė, manager of the Christmas mail organizer "Senjoro".
"The best gift for seniors is not the one wrapped in brightly colored paper. They value sincere attention the most. There are indeed many seniors in Lithuania who have no one to celebrate the big holidays with, so the letters that reach them are a very sensitive and precious gift. And it's so easy to give as a gift - all you need is a piece of paper, a pen and a sincere holiday wish. "We will make sure that the letter reaches the lonely senior by collecting all the letters from the Christmas mailboxes and delivering them directly into their hands", says R. Bitautaitė.
The Christmas mail, which started for the first time last year, delivered more than 500 letters to single seniors. The head of "Senjor" says that back then everyone wrote letters - adults, children and even the seniors themselves.
"The authors of the letters were extremely sincere and generous. The lonely seniors received not only letters, but also sweets, handmade knitted gloves and other gifts. All the letters gave the seniors a lot of positive emotions, and most of them even wanted to write back to the author of the letter. Although the letters are sent anonymously, this year those who wish are invited to write their address on the letter. What do you know, you might find your new pen pal", smiles R. Bitautaitė.
